RAJO: Hope From the Ground Up
Rajo is a documentary film about people working at the grassroots level to aid and advance their community. It’s a story about learning to listen well and to collaborate with those who know the needs best; the people who live and work within the community. It is about taking time to see what is good and beautiful in places where others don’t take the time to look. This film focuses on Somali run organizations in Eastleigh, Nairobi, but has implications for how we approach humanitarian and non-profit work across the globe.
Specifically, Rajo features interviews from Somalis working in Eastleigh, Nairobi: Agents of Peace, an anti-radicalization and peace building organization, Awjama Cultural Centre, a community hub focused on cultural and Somali language preservation, and Safeway Clinic, a clinic focusing on women and children, especially on issues of FGM and family planning.
